Toyota Fortuner with mild hybrid tech launched.

Toyota has launched new mild-hybrid versions of the Fortuner and its premium sibling, the Legender, in India. The Fortuner Neo Drive 48V starts at Rs 44.72 lakh. The Legender Neo Drive 48V costs Rs 50.09 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. Bookings are now open across India. Deliveries will begin in the third week of June.

Toyota Fortuner Neo Drive: Key Details

The Fortuner family now includes hybrid technology. The familiar 2.8-litre diesel engine makes 204 hp and 500 Nm of peak torque. It now comes with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This setup includes a belt-integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery. It delivers smoother low-speed performance, better fuel efficiency, and quieter engine starts.

The hybrid assist system also enables features like regenerative braking and auto start-stop. The latter switches off the engine during idling to save fuel and reduce emissions.

Toyota Fortuner: New Features

The design and interiors remain largely unchanged. However, the Neo Drive versions get a few key feature upgrades. These include:

  • A 360-degree panoramic camera
  • A wireless smartphone charger
  • A ‘Neo Drive’ badge on the tailgate

The Fortuner and Legender Neo Drive variants join Toyota’s expanding lineup of electrified models in India. This lineup already includes the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Glanza.
