Kolkata police saved a 17-year-old boy on Friday. The boy, Soumen Pradhan, was taken by five people. They wanted to get back a Rs 10 lakh loan from his father.

What Happened

  • When and Where: The kidnapping took place around 11:30 am in Thakurpukur.
  • How it Happened: The kidnappers pushed Soumen into an autorickshaw. His parents were there but couldn’t stop them.
  • Ransom Demands: They took him to a house in Haridevpur. They asked for Rs 10 lakh from his father, Uttam Pradhan. Later, they lowered the amount to Rs 6 lakh.

Police Response

  • Fast Action: Uttam Pradhan reported the crime right away. The police moved quickly.
  • Rescue Mission: The police and detective team saved Soumen in less than two hours. They also found the autorickshaw used in the crime.

The Kidnappers

  • Arrested: The police caught five people. They are Biswajit Singha, Goutam Pradhan, Payel Pradhan, Bhabani Singha Pradhan, and Milan Hati.
  • Police Words: Rupesh Kumar, Joint CP (Crime & Traffic), said, “We caught all five suspects. We saved the victim using technology and local surveillance.”

Why It Happened

Uttam Pradhan owed Rs 10 lakh. He was paying it back but the bank wanted all the money at once. The bank had also complained about him in East Midnapore.

Recent Event

This happened just two days after a loan recovery agent was attacked. The agent had threatened a family in Narkeldanga.
