Zepto’s Dharavi Warehouse Faces Licence Suspension

Food safety violations in warehouse

Mumbai officials have closed a Zepto warehouse in Dharavi. The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) found serious food safety problems during a recent check.

Major Violations Discovered

  • Food items covered in fungus
  • Products stored near dirty water
  • Expired goods on shelves
  • Items kept on wet, unclean floors
  • Poor cold storage conditions

Inspectors found these issues during a standard visit. Zepto has promised to fix these problems quickly.

What Officials Say

Anupama Patil, a food safety officer, noted that expired items were mixed with fresh products. These expired items have now been thrown away.

Mangesh Mane, another food safety official, stated that the warehouse will stay closed. It will only reopen once all issues are resolved. More checks will happen at other Zepto warehouses and similar companies.

Zepto’s Plan of Action

A Zepto representative said, “We have begun an internal review. We are teaming up with the authorities to follow all rules.” The company is dedicated to fixing the mistakes and reopening as soon as possible.

Other Recent FDA Actions

Earlier this year, the FDA inspected three companies. These companies were accused of selling medicines without a proper licence online. The companies included Foclo Technologies in Thane, Bhagwati Stores in Kandivli, and Scootsy (Swiggy) Logistics in Malad.
