Union Minister Nitin Gadkari shared exciting news on Monday. He said India’s roads will soon be as good as America’s. This big change will happen in just two years. Gadkari pointed out the huge efforts by the Modi government. Over the past ten years, they have spent a lot on roads and highways. He also said that the projects are moving forward nicely.
Big Changes on India’s Roads
Gadkari spoke to ANI and said, “The change has already started. You have seen the news, but the best is yet to come.” He even mentioned that some visitors from America thought India’s roads were better than theirs.
“The projects we have planned are moving fast. In two more years, India’s roads will be like America’s,” Gadkari added.
Good Roads Bring Big Benefits
Gadkari explained that better roads have made it cheaper to move goods around India. This will help India sell more goods to other countries.
“If we sell more goods, it will help our farmers, factories, and services,” he said.
Cutting Down Costs
Gadkari talked about a big problem India had. It cost too much to move goods around. India’s cost was 16%, but China’s was only 8%. America and Europe had a cost of 12%. He said, “Our roads and ports were not good. Traffic jams made costs go up.”
But now, things are better. The Modi government has made roads much better. This has cut the cost to 9%. “This lower cost will help us sell more goods,” Gadkari said again.
Exciting Projects Underway
The minister shared some big projects that are happening right now:
- 25 new expressways
- A huge 3,000 km highway to connect ports
- New roads for religious tourism worth Rs 1 lakh crore
He also talked about plans to connect important religious sites. This includes Buddhist circuits and all-weather roads to Char Dhams.
“We are building 36 tunnels between Jammu and Srinagar. 23 are already done, and we’re working on 4-5 more,” Gadkari said. “We are also building 15 ropeways and 35 big logistics parks.”
India’s Huge Road Network
India has the second-biggest road network in the world. National Highways stretch about 146,000 kilometres. These roads are like the country’s lifelines, helping people and goods move around.
