Protests Erupt After Animal Remains Found

Communal tensions rose in Assam’s Dhubri town on Sunday. This happened after animal remains, thought to be a cow’s head, were found near a Hindu temple. India Today NE reported this.

Finding at Hanuman Temple

A visitor spotted the animal remains at the Hanuman temple in ward number 3 around 7:30 am. By 9 am, protests had started in the area.

Similar Past Incidents

This was the third such incident at the same temple, as reported by the Assam Tribune.

Community’s Response

Many locals blocked a road near the temple. They shouted slogans and burned tires during their protest. The Assam Tribune shared this news.

• Protesters stopped the police from taking the animal remains.
• They demanded the remains stay until those responsible are caught and arrested.

Police at the Scene

Tensions grew despite many police officers being present. By 11 am, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Dibakar Nath and Superintendent of Police Nabin Singh arrived. They talked to the crowd and promised a thorough investigation.

Official Measures Taken

On Monday, the deputy commissioner issued orders under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. These orders:

• Stop gatherings of five or more people in Dhubri town.
• Ban rallies, processions, meetings, or demonstrations.
