Government Announces Fresh Survey

BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced plans for a new socio-educational survey. The previous survey, conducted in 2015, is now considered outdated.

Reasons for the Update

The Chief Minister’s decision follows a law that mandates a new survey every decade. The 2015 survey, led by H Kantharaju, cost Rs 160 crore but is no longer relevant.

Important Details

  • The 2015 survey results were submitted in February 2024.
  • Discussions on the survey were delayed due to the 2024 general elections.
  • The date for the new survey has not yet been announced.

Government’s Action

The government has decided to discard the old report. This decision came after pressure from the high command. The Chief Minister stated that he considered all stakeholders, including the high command.

Future Steps

A new census will be conducted as directed by the Congress high command. The government aims to gather accurate and current data for improved decision-making.
