PM Modi’s Heartfelt Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met with the family of Vijay Rupani. Rupani was the former Chief Minister of Gujarat. He tragically passed away in an air crash in Ahmedabad.

Remembering Vijay Rupani

PM Modi expressed his feelings on social media. He shared that he is not ready to accept Vijay Rupani’s sudden demise. Modi affectionately referred to him as “Vijaybhai”.

In his post, Modi wrote, “I met Vijaybhai Rupani’s family to offer my condolences. I am not ready to accept that Vijaybhai is no more. I have been associated with him for years. We worked together through many challenging times.”

Rupani’s Significant Contributions

Modi remembered Rupani’s simple and gentle nature. He was known for his hard work and dedication to the party’s ideology. Rupani served as Gujarat’s Chief Minister. He also took on various responsibilities within the party’s organization.

Rupani made a lasting impact in every role he undertook. These roles included:

  • Councilor in Rajkot Municipal Corporation
  • Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha
  • State President of BJP
  • Cabinet Minister

Collaborating for Gujarat’s Growth

Modi had the opportunity to work closely with Rupani during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister. Together, they took significant steps to advance Gujarat’s development. One notable initiative was the ‘Ease of Living’ program.

Modi added, “The meetings and discussions with him will always be remembered.”

The Tragic Air Crash

Rupani was on board the ill-fated Air India flight to London. The flight crashed just minutes after taking off from Ahmedabad. The crash occurred on a Thursday afternoon.

The aircraft carried 242 people. This included 230 passengers, two pilots, and ten cabin crew members. Sadly, there was only one survivor, a British passenger of Indian origin.
