Manipur Police Recover Over 300 Weapons in Joint Operations
In a significant achievement, Manipur police and security forces joined forces on June 13-14, 2025. They successfully recovered 328 weapons across five valley districts.
Weapons Recovered
The operation led to the recovery of various types of weapons, including:
- 151 self-loading rifles
- 65 INSAS rifles
- 6 AK series rifles
- 73 rifles
- 12 Light Machine Guns (LMGs)
- 5 carbine guns
- 2 MP5 guns
- 2 Amogh rifles
- 1 mortar
- 6 pistols
- 2 barrel guns
- 1 AR15
- 2 flare guns
Ammunition Seized
Along with the weapons, a substantial amount of ammunition was also seized:
- 591 magazines
- 3534 SLR rounds
- 2176 INSAS rounds
- 2252 .303 rounds
- 235 AK series rounds
- 407 Amogh rounds
- 20 9mm rounds
- 10 grenades
- 7 detonators
Joint Operations
Manipur police, along with CAPFs, the Army, and Assam Rifles, collaborated on this mission. Acting on a tip, they conducted thorough search operations in five valley districts.
Manipur DGP Rajeev Singh praised the operation as a major success. He emphasized its role in restoring normalcy, maintaining public order, and ensuring citizen safety.

Senior police officials are actively coordinating with security stakeholders. Their aim is to sustain these operations for ongoing public safety and normalcy.
Weapons Recovered Since Ethnic Violence
Since the outbreak of ethnic violence, nearly 5000 weapons have been recovered. Out of these, less than 1,100 were surrendered voluntarily, while the rest were seized during raids.
From February 20 to the deadline set by Manipur Governor Anay Bhalla, 991 weapons were surrendered. Additionally, rebels or protesters handed over:
- 11,526 ammunition items
- 366 hand grenades
- 230 bombs
- 10 IEDs
