Different Types of Optical Illusions

There are three main types of optical illusions:

  • Literal Illusions: These happen when our brain mixes parts of an image to create something that isn’t there. For example, an image might look like two faces or a vase, depending on how you see it.
  • Physiological Illusions: These occur when our eyes get overstimulated, like when we see too much light, movement, or color. They can create effects like afterimages or make things look like they’re moving when they’re not.
  • Cognitive Illusions: These rely on how our brain understands information without us realizing it. Examples include illusions where lines look longer or shorter because of the shapes around them.
