Supreme Court Steps In for Kamal Haasan’s Film
Supreme Court Makes Key Decision on Kamal Haasan’s Comments
The Supreme Court made an important decision on Tuesday. They ruled that the Karnataka High Court should not have asked for an apology from actor Kamal Haasan. This was about his comments on the Kannada language.
What the Supreme Court Decided
- The Supreme Court has taken over all proceedings related to Haasan’s film, Thug Life.
- The state government must file its response by Wednesday.
- The court had already issued a notice in the previous hearing due to the urgency.
Law Must Come First
Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and Manmohan stated that the law must come first. They said any film approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has the right to be released. The court also mentioned that groups should not be allowed to create chaos on the streets.
Case Moved to Supreme Court
The case was pending before the Karnataka High Court. Now, it has been moved to the Supreme Court for all future hearings. Last week, the Karnataka High Court had questioned Haasan’s refusal to apologize for his comments. They asked, “Why is the apology still not made?”
Supreme Court in Full Control
With Tuesday’s order, the Supreme Court has taken full control of the matter. This protects the film and its makers from regional court interventions for now. The court also mentioned late statesman C Rajagopalachari, who had once publicly apologized to Kannadigas.
