Investigation Progress
On June 24, experts from AAIB and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) began retrieving data. They accessed the memory module from the first black box on June 25. Both the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR) are being studied to understand the aircraft’s final trajectory and crew actions.
The analysis is ongoing. More findings will be shared as the investigation continues.
Black Box Recovery
One black box was found on a rooftop at the crash site in Ahmedabad on June 13. The second was retrieved from the wreckage on June 16. Both devices were secured with round-the-clock police protection and CCTV surveillance.
On June 24, the black boxes were flown to Delhi in separate Indian Air Force flights. The first black box reached the AAIB laboratory at 2 pm, escorted by the Director General of AAIB. The second unit arrived later that evening at 5:15 pm with another AAIB team.

About the Crash
On June 12, the London-bound Air India flight AI171, with 242 people on board, crashed minutes after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad. Sadly, 241 passengers and crew members lost their lives.
