Shubman Gill Makes History with Double Century and Hundred in Same Test
Gill Shines Against England
Shubman Gill did something amazing on Saturday. He became the second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to score a double hundred and a century in the same Test match against England.
Gill’s Amazing Feat
Gill scored a huge 269 in the first innings of the second Test. He then scored a fantastic 161 in the second innings. This incredible performance put his name in the record books.
Beating the England Bowlers
After Karun Nair got out, Gill kept going strong. He played just like he did in the first innings. Gill reached his hundred in just 130 balls, showing his great talent and skill.
Gavaskar did something similar back in 1971. He scored 124 and 220 against West Indies at Port of Spain. Gill’s performance reminds us of Gavaskar’s legendary innings.
Joining the Ranks of Great Indian Captains
Gill’s achievement also made him the third Indian captain to score two hundreds in a Test match. The other two captains who did this were:
- Sunil Gavaskar against West Indies in 1978
- Virat Kohli against Australia in 2014
At just 25 years old, Gill has already made a big impact. He became the second player after Kohli to score three hundreds in his first two Tests as captain. This amazing feat shows Gill’s potential and promise as a future cricket star.
