President Trump Pushes for Fast Trade Agreements

US President Donald Trump talked about new trade deals. These deals are between the United States and many other countries, including India. He said that letters about these trade agreements will start going out from Monday.

Important Points from Trump’s Announcement

  • Letters about trade deals will be sent out starting Monday.
  • About 15 letters could be sent.
  • Some deals have already been made.

Trump said, “We are going to be sending letters out on Monday about the trade deals… It could be as many as 15 or so. They will go out on Monday, and some will go out on Tuesday and Wednesday. We have also made deals. So, we will have a mix of letters and some deals.”

Upcoming Deadline and Tariffs

These comments come just before the July 9 deadline. This date is the end of a 90-day pause on Trump-era tariffs. After this date, a 26% extra import tax is expected on goods from countries like India entering the US.

The Trump team is putting more pressure on trade partners. They want to reach agreements quickly before Wednesday. Starting Monday, the US plans to send official letters. These letters will warn that higher tariffs could start from August 1.

Finishing Trade Agreements

Trump added, “We’ll have most countries done by July 9 — either a letter or a deal.”

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, standing next to Trump, told reporters, “The president is right in the middle of discussing all sorts of deals with many countries.” He confirmed that if agreements are not reached, the new tariffs will start on August 1.
