Police Register Case Against 25 Celebrities and Influencers

In Hyderabad, a case has been filed against 25 well-known Tollywood actors and influencers for promoting online betting apps. The list of accused includes Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Devarakonda, Manchu Lakshmi, Praneetha, Nidhi Agarwal, and Ananya Nagella.

Crackdown on Illegal Betting Platforms

• A local resident, P M Phanindra Sarma, lodged a complaint leading to the case registration.
• The police have invoked various sections of the Telangana Gaming Act, BNS, and the IT Act to register the case.
• This action comes close on the heels of a similar case against 11 social media influencers, one of whom was a police constable.
• Police are intensifying their efforts to curb the increasing problem of illegal betting platforms.

Online Campaign to Raise Awareness

To address growing concerns, TGRTC MD and Senior IPS Officer VC Sajjanar have initiated an online awareness campaign called #SayNoToBettingApps. The campaign aims to inform the public about the risks associated with online betting.
