Young Carpenter Loses Life After Hit-and-Run in Mumbai

A Tragic Event in Borivali West

In a devastating turn of events, a 25-year-old carpenter named Sunil Vishwakarma lost his life following a hit-and-run accident in Mumbai’s Borivali West. He bravely fought for his life in the hospital for a week before ultimately succumbing to his injuries.

The Accident

  • On March 13, Sunil and his father, Rajendra Vishwakarma, both carpenters, were returning from work at a marble store in Borivali West.
  • They boarded a shared autorickshaw from Yogi Nagar to Borivali railway station around 9 pm.
  • As their auto approached Petpuja restaurant, a speeding tempo collided with it on the right side.
  • Sunil, who was seated on the right side of the vehicle, sustained severe injuries to his head and right leg.
  • The tempo driver fled the scene without providing any help, leaving Sunil bleeding heavily.

Hospital Care and Treatment

Sunil was immediately taken to the civic-run Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital at Kandivali for treatment. He was later transferred to the Apex Hospital and then to the KEM Hospital. Despite valiant efforts to save him, his condition remained critical, and he passed away on March 20.

Police Inquiry

The MHB Colony police have registered a case of rash driving and negligence against the tempo driver. They are currently searching for the driver involved in the crash.

Family Circumstances

Sunil resided with his parents in Nala Sopara, and his father, Rajendra, is also a carpenter. The father and son worked together prior to the tragic incident.
