Hero Xpulse 210 First-Ride Review: More of Everything!

Introduction

The ADV motorcycle segment in India has grown rapidly, increasing eightfold in the last five years. Hero MotoCorp entered this category with the Impulse in 2014. Now, the company is making waves in this expanding segment with the Xpulse brand. The Xpulse has already sold over 3 lakh units and is available in more than 30 countries. Today, we’re discussing the latest addition to this lineup, the XPulse 210.

Design

The Xpulse 210 has a more aggressive and purposeful design compared to its 200 4V sibling. It features a redesigned front fascia with a round LED headlamp cluster and H-shaped LED DRLs, giving it a modern and edgy look. The graphics are refined, and the fuel tank is sleeker and more sculpted, adding to the bike’s purposeful appearance. Additionally, it comes with a tail rack and a grab bar under the headlamp to help pull the bike out of tricky situations if it gets stuck. The Hero design team has done an excellent job of enhancing the bike’s character while staying true to the Xpulse DNA.

Ergonomics and Comfort

The Xpulse 210 offers a comfortable riding experience. Its tall, upright riding posture makes it easy to ride, and the bike’s geometry allows for a good grip. The seating position is comfortable, and the design makes it easy to tuck in your knees while standing on off-road trails. The footpegs are well-placed for both seated comfort and confident standing during off-road rides. The riding position is commanding, and the revamped windscreen blocks the wind blast effectively while providing a clear view of the road ahead.

Engine and Performance

The Xpulse 210 is powered by a 210cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine sourced from the Karizma XMR, delivering 24.6 hp and 20.7 Nm. This is a 30% increase in power compared to the Xpulse 200, and it’s noticeable while riding on highways. The motor provides strong low-end torque, and the acceleration is linear. The bike responds predictably in different conditions, and the engine’s tractability allows it to pull cleanly at speeds as low as 18 kmph in fourth and fifth gear.

Features

The top-spec Xpulse 210 Pro variant comes with a fully digital TFT instrument cluster. The display is crisp and easy to read, featuring Bluetooth connectivity for call and text alerts as well as turn-by-turn navigation. Another notable feature is the inclusion of hazard lamps.

Should You Buy It?

Yes! The Xpulse 210 is a significant upgrade from the XPulse 200 4V, outperforming it in all areas. It’s available in two variants, starting from Rs 1.76 lakh (up to Rs 1.86 lakh for the top-spec variant, ex-showroom). It’s an excellent choice for both new and experienced off-road riders. The engine is smooth, it offers good value for money, the design is fresh and appealing, and it’s definitely worth considering.
