Convict Captured After 14 Years of Hiding for Murder and Rape in Delhi
Justice Finally Served
A convicted criminal, who had been evading the law for 14 years, was finally apprehended in Meerut for his role in a horrific murder and rape case that occurred in Delhi’s Bhajanpura area.
The 1996 Incident
- On July 6, 1996, Delhi police received a call about a murder in Bhajanpura.
- Upon reaching the scene, they discovered the bodies of a man, two women, and two children.
- Six individuals, including Raj Kumar, were arrested for the crime.
The Trial and Punishment
During the trial, four of the accused, including Raj Kumar, were found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Escape and Re-capture
- In 2011, Raj Kumar was granted 40 days of parole due to his mother’s illness.
- However, he failed to return to jail and had been on the run since then.
- A police team was formed to locate him, and one officer disguised as a delivery boy to successfully arrest him in Multan Nagar, Meerut.
The Robbery and Its Aftermath
The robbery was planned after Raj Kumar’s friend, Rajender alias Raju, disclosed that his cousin in Bhajanpura had recently sold a property for 22 lakh rupees. When no money was found in the house, they raped one of the women and murdered the entire family.
