Investigation Begins into Alleged Murder Plot Targeting MLC Rajendra

Special Police Team Leads Inquiry into Conspiracy

A special police team, headed by a deputy superintendent of police (DySP), has initiated an investigation into an alleged murder conspiracy against Congress MLC KN Rajendra, the son of minister KN Rajanna.

FIR Filed at Kyatasandra Police Station

  • An FIR was lodged at Kyatasandra police station in Tumakuru
  • Five individuals were identified in the FIR, including a history-sheeter named Soma
  • The other accused are: Bharat, Amit, Gunda, and Yatish

A senior police officer commented, “We will soon interrogate the accused. The investigation will proceed based on their statements.”

Rajendra’s Complaint to State Police Chief

  • Rajendra met with state police chief Alok Mohan on Thursday
  • He submitted a written complaint regarding the alleged murder plot
  • Following Mohan’s advice, Rajendra filed a formal complaint with Tumakuru superintendent of police (SP)

In his complaint, Rajendra alleged that the accused were to be paid Rs 70 lakh to eliminate him, with Rs 5 lakh already received as an advance. He also claimed that the gang planned the attack for Nov 16, 2024, the day before his daughter’s birthday celebrations at his Tumakuru residence. Rajendra mentioned receiving an audio clip in Jan that confirmed the plot.

Suspects Visited Rajendra’s Residence

The MLC explained that the suspects had visited his residence under the pretense of setting up a shamiyana. Initially suspected to be an attempt at honey trapping, Rajendra later clarified that it was a conspiracy to kill him.
