Domestic Workers’ Dispute Turns Violent at Sky City Society, 11 Detained

Financial Disagreement Ignites Riot

A financial disagreement between two groups of domestic workers at the Sky City society in Shela, Ahmedabad, escalated into a riot. The Bopal police have taken 11 people into custody for their suspected role in the disturbance.

Attempted Settlement Fails, Leading to Assault

Bopal police inspector B T Gohil reported that the groups had a financial dispute which was initially resolved through a compromise. However, on Friday, the complainant and others were assaulted by the opposing group.

  • 11 individuals were arrested, all originating from Rajasthan
  • Their ages range from 21 to 24 years

Arjunlal Somaji’s Grievance

Arjunlal Somaji, the complainant, stated that he worked as a housekeeper at Sky City. On Thursday night, Arjunlal and his brother-in-law, Ganesh Mina, were heading to work when Yogesh Mina and Rahul Sarapota approached them, requesting a loan.

  • Arjunlal informed them he had no money, sparking an argument
  • Ganesh was attacked when he intervened to stop the abuse

Assault at Sky City

Subsequently, Yogesh and Rahul, accompanied by others, arrived at the society armed with sticks, plastic pipes, and wires, attacking Arjunlal and other domestic workers. The group threatened to kill Arjunlal and Ganesh before departing the scene.

The complaint was lodged on Friday against the group.
