UPI Smashes Records: Over ₹24.8 Lakh Crore Transacted in March 2023
Unprecedented Growth in Monthly Transactions
UPI, the widely-used digital payment platform, has set a new record in March 2023. It processed an astonishing 1,830 crore transactions worth ₹24.8 lakh crore, marking a 36% year-on-year growth in volume and a 25% increase in value.
Daily Averages and Past Records
- This impressive figure comes after February’s total of 1,611 crore transactions amounting to nearly ₹22 lakh crore.
- On average, UPI now manages 59 crore transactions daily or 6,800 every second, with a daily transaction value of ₹79,910 crore.
- The previous highest transaction value for a single month was recorded in October 2024, when festive and online sales led to a total of ₹23.5 lakh crore.
- The previous peak for transaction volume was in January 2025, with 1,700 crore transactions.
Annual Statistics for FY25
For the entire financial year 2024-25 (FY25), UPI transactions amounted to 18,586 crore, valued at ₹260.5 lakh crore. This indicates an annual rise of 41% in volume and 30% in value compared to FY24’s 13,113 crore transactions worth ₹200 lakh crore.
