Charminar’s Stucco Damage After Heavy Rain in Hyderabad

Decorative Piece Falls from Minaret

A section of stucco work from the historic Charminar in Hyderabad fell off following heavy rain on Thursday, as confirmed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials. Fortunately, the fallen stucco, located on the second tier of one minaret, caused no injuries, according to ASI sources.

Fragile Material and Rain Impact

  • Officials identified the fallen piece as a decorative element on a stone structure, highlighting the material’s natural fragility.
  • “The damage is not significant,” authorities stated, attributing the incident to the heavy rainfall’s impact.

Inspection and Restoration Plans

After the collapse, the affected area was inspected, and a team of experts, including engineers, will assess the required restoration measures on Friday morning.

City Waterlogging

The heavy rain also resulted in waterlogging in several city areas.
