Four Traffic Posts Established on International Women’s Day
Last month, on International Women’s Day, four model traffic posts were set up in the city to be managed by women traffic police. Unfortunately, these posts lack basic facilities like electricity and water supply in washrooms.
Absence of Electricity and Water Supply
- None of the four posts have an independent electricity supply.
- Only one out of the four posts has water supply in the washroom.
The post near Patna Zoo gate number 2, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, lacks both electricity and water supply in the washroom. The remaining three posts are situated at Hartali Mor, New Secretariat crossing, and Saguna Mor.
Unfulfilled Promises of Basic Necessities
The authorities had assured that these posts would be equipped with essential amenities like fans, lights, chairs, tables, and washroom facilities. However, the current situation contradicts this promise.
Policewomen Obliged to Use Zoo Washroom
The Patna Zoo traffic post had power connection only for the inauguration day, after which it was disconnected. The policewomen on duty are compelled to use the zoo washroom as their post’s washroom lacks a water connection.
Hartali Mor Post: The Fortunate One
Among the four, the Hartali Mor post is the fortunate one to have obtained water supply to its washroom a week ago. Thanks to its proactive in-charge, sub-inspector Moni Kumari, they managed to borrow a power connection from Pant Bhawan after the bathroom fittings were installed and water connection provided.
New Secretariat Mor Post: Awaiting Basic Facilities
The post at New Secretariat Mor relies on a nearby temple for its power supply, and the washroom is still not ready.
Saguna Mor Post: Uninformed About Women-Run Post
The fourth post at Saguna Mor has managed to get a power connection from the police outpost just behind it. However, none of the policemen present at the traffic post in the afternoon were aware that it was meant to be a woman traffic post.
The Urgency for Immediate Action
The absence of basic amenities at these women-run model traffic posts is a serious concern. Immediate action is required to ensure that these posts are provided with the necessary facilities.
