Ahmedabad is currently in the grip of a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring to a season-high of 43.2°C on Wednesday. This scorching heat is 4.2 degrees above the normal maximum temperature for this time of year.
Minimum Temperature Also on the Rise
The minimum temperature in Ahmedabad has also risen significantly, reaching 27.6°C. This is 4.4 degrees above the average minimum temperature for the season.
Thursday’s Maximum Temperature Forecast
According to the Met department, the maximum temperature on Thursday is predicted to be around 42°C.
Impact on Ride-Share Prices
With many people choosing to stay indoors due to the extreme heat, ride-share platforms have significantly increased their prices. Even short rides have become costly due to this price surge.

- “Normally, I pay around Rs 40 for a two-wheeler ride or Rs 60-65 for a three-wheeler to travel to Vastrapur for my classes. Today, the prices exceeded Rs 75 for two-wheelers and Rs 100 for an auto on ride-sharing apps.”
Heatwave in Kandla and Rajkot
The heatwave was most intense in Kandla, which recorded the highest temperature at 45.6°C, closely followed by Rajkot at 45.2°C.
