Buxar Police Seize 354 Cartons of Illicit IMFL, Driver Apprehended
Foreign Liquor Concealed in Biscuit Boxes
On Wednesday night, Buxar police confiscated 354 cartons of India-made foreign liquor (IMFL) that were being smuggled. The total quantity of liquor seized was 3,144 liters, hidden in biscuit boxes and loaded onto a truck. The driver, Tejpal Sharma, a resident of Udaipur in Rajasthan, was arrested.
Tip-off Prompted Seizure
Dumraon SDPO Afaque Akhtar Ansari revealed that they received a tip-off about a large consignment of liquor being transported from Rajasthan to Darbhanga via Buxar. The truck was en route to Naya Bhojpur along the Buxar-Ara NH-922.
Liquor Found During Check
Following the instructions of the Buxar SP, a police team led by Ansari intercepted the truck, disguised as a ‘postal parcel’, near the Naya Bhojpur police station for inspection. Upon searching, the police discovered 354 cartons of foreign liquor of various brands, all concealed within biscuit boxes. The truck driver was taken into custody promptly.
