Air India Flight Cancellations: Your Guide to Refunds

Air India

Air India recently cancelled several international flights. This caused big problems for travelers. The cancellations happened after the tragic crash of Air India flight AI171. This flight was heading to London. Sadly, 241 out of 242 people on board lost their lives.

Air India is now checking their planes more carefully. They are doing more safety checks and looking at their technology.

As of Tuesday, at least seven international flights were affected. These flights were mostly from Delhi and Mumbai. They were either cancelled or not running.

Air India also mentioned bad weather in Delhi. This made the flight problems worse. The airline posted on X, saying:

“Due to bad weather in Delhi, our flights are impacted with some diversions. Please check your flight status before heading to the airport.”

If your flight was cancelled, Air India has some guidelines. These will help you track your refund or ask for one. You can do this on their website or mobile app.

How to Track Your Refund Status

Follow these simple steps to track your refund:

  • Go to the airline’s website: Air India Refunds
  • Click on ‘Status Check on Pending Refund’
  • Enter your details to see your refund status

How to Request a Refund for an Air India Flight

You can ask for a refund in the “Manage Booking” section on the website. If you bought your ticket at an Air India office, contact your nearest reservation center.

If you bought your ticket through a travel agent or another website, contact them directly.

Refund Validity

You can ask for a refund up to two years from the date on your ticket.

Air India says that extra charges for changing your flight depend on a few things. These include the type of ticket you have, when you change it, and where you’re going. But if the airline cancels your flight, you can change your flight without extra charges. You can do this using the self-service option on their website.

The airline tries to process refunds within 7 to 10 business days. But sometimes it takes longer. This can happen if there are problems with your booking or your bank account. If you don’t get your refund within 15-20 business days, you can contact Air India’s customer support. Use your case ID to do this.

Refunds go back to the account you used to book your ticket. If that account is no longer open, you need to give Air India your new details. You can do this at your nearest Air India office or through their support website.

If you only get part of your refund, you can complain through the support website. The airline says they will respond within 24 hours.
