Air India Cuts International Flights by 15%: What You Need to Know
Why Air India is Reducing Flights
Air India has announced a 15% cut in its international flights. This change impacts wide-body aircraft and will last until at least mid-July.
Key Reasons for the Reduction
- Airspace closures have led to longer flying times to and from the west.
- Increased safety checks on Boeing 787s after a recent event.
- Fewer twin-aisle aircraft are available.
How This Affects Travelers
Air India usually runs about 70 international flights each day using its wide-body fleet. But between June 2 and 17, the airline flew 462 flights and had to cancel 83. This means that 15.2% of the planned flights were canceled, causing trouble for passengers.
To better match their flight schedules with their actual ability to fly, Air India has decided to reduce wide-body flights by 15%.
