Ajay Jadeja Criticizes Shubman Gill’s Comments on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Century
Former Cricketer Defends Young IPL Player
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja openly criticized Shubman Gill’s remarks about Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record-breaking century in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Gill, the Gujarat Titans’ captain, referred to Suryavanshi’s century as “lucky”.
Suryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Century
Suryavanshi, who replaced the injured Sanju Samson, achieved this feat in just three innings. At 14 years and 32 days old, he became the fastest Indian and youngest overall to score an IPL hundred. He also broke the record for the youngest-ever T20 hundred.
Gill’s Comments and Jadeja’s Response
After the Gujarat Titans’ eight-wicket loss, Gill was asked about Suryavanshi’s performance. He replied that the Rajasthan Royals opener was fortunate to capitalize on his chances. However, Jadeja disagreed with Gill’s statement.
“But for a 14-year-old to have that self-belief, and to take it that far, even if it’s just one day, like some player on television said, oh, it was just his lucky day,” Jadeja said during a post-match show on Star Sports.
