England Captain Looks Forward to Third Test Against India

England captain Ben Stokes is not dwelling on past successes. He is fully focused on the upcoming third Test against India at Lord’s.

Leaving Past Achievements Behind

Stokes briefly looked back at his impressive 155-run performance against Australia at the same venue in 2023. However, he made it clear that he has moved on from that innings.

“That was two years ago, so I’m pretty much over that now,” Stokes said at the pre-match press conference.

Hopeful for Big Runs Ahead

The England skipper is optimistic about scoring big runs soon. The series against India is finely poised at 1-1, adding to his positive outlook.

“Hopefully, a big score is just around the corner,” he added, hinting that he’s due for a major contribution with the bat.

Team India’s Confidence Boost

Team India is feeling confident. They have won two of their last three Tests at this venue. Stokes has had a moderate series so far, scoring just 86 runs in four innings, with a top score of 33. He has also taken six wickets, including a four-wicket haul at Leeds.

Stokes’ Recent Performance

Stokes’ recent performances haven’t matched his undeniable talent. In 16 Tests since last year, he has scored 697 runs at an average of 26.81, with just five fifties and a best score of 80.

Success Potential at Lord’s

Stokes has a brilliant record at Lord’s, known as the ‘Home of Cricket.’ He has made 843 runs in 12 matches and 20 innings at an average of 44.36, with three centuries and five fifties. His best score at this venue is 155.

Stokes’ Record Against India

Stokes’ record against India is not as impressive. He has made 1,058 runs at an average of 24.60, with five half-centuries and a best score of 128, including a century and five fifties.
