Indian Railways Launches 50 New Namo Bharat AC Trains

Namo Bharat AC Trains

Namo Bharat, previously known as Vande Metro, is an air-conditioned self-propelled train. It is built on the Vande Bharat Express platform.

Indian Railways is making short-distance travel better. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishaw announced plans to build 50 new Namo Bharat trains. They will also introduce 100 Mainline EMUs (MEMUs). These trains will have 16-20 coaches each. The goal is to improve travel for passengers on short routes.

Key Features of Namo Bharat Trains

Made for Short Trips

Namo Bharat trains are great for traveling between cities. While Vande Bharat trains run at 160 kmph, Namo Bharat trains will go up to 130 kmph.

High Capacity

These trains might replace the mainline EMUs on the Indian Railways network. They offer both seats and standing space, like metro services. A 12-coach train can carry 1,150 seated passengers. It can also fit 2,058 standing travelers.

Advanced Features

  • Top speed of 130 kmph
  • Better acceleration and braking
  • Sealed gangways for easy movement between coaches
  • Comfortable seats
  • Full air conditioning
  • Automatic doors
  • KAVACH anti-collision system
  • Power outlets for charging phones
  • Large windows with roller blinds

Improved Safety and Comfort

For safety, these trains have CCTV cameras and emergency communication systems. They also feature modern toilets with vacuum-based systems. This ensures a clean and comfortable journey for all passengers.
