Julius Yego Regrets Arshad Nadeem’s Absence at Neeraj Chopra Classic
A Chance Missed for Javelin Sport
Julius Yego, the Rio Olympics silver medalist, has voiced his regret over Arshad Nadeem’s absence from the first-ever Neeraj Chopra Classic. The event is set to occur on May 24 at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
Nadeem’s Focus on Asian Athletics Championships
Arshad Nadeem, who achieved a record throw of 92.97m at the Paris Olympics last year, will not be partaking in the Neeraj Chopra Classic. He is preparing for the Asian Athletics Championships, which will take place in Korea from May 27 to 31.
Yego’s Sentiments and Encouragement for Neeraj Chopra
In an exclusive interview with Livemint from Kenya, Yego, the 2015 javelin world champion, shared his thoughts on Nadeem’s absence. He said, “I’m disappointed for Nadeem! It would have been great for him to compete at the Neeraj Chopra Classic. It’s a loss for the sport on a grand scale. I also sympathize with Neeraj because he tried his utmost to bring Nadeem, but circumstances didn’t permit it.”
Yego continued, “It’s unfortunate that the Olympic champion won’t be competing in this significant event organized by Chopra in India.”
