The video appeared to mock Shiv Sena workers who had vandalized the studio where he performed.

Shiv Sena’s Vandalism at Habitat Centre

Shiv Sena workers vandalized the Habitat centre in Mumbai following Kamra’s comments about Eknath Shinde in a video released on Sunday. In the video, Kamra performed a parody of a popular Hindi song from the film ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai,’ seemingly referring to Shinde as a ‘gaddar’ (traitor). He also made jokes about recent political events in Maharashtra, including the Shiv Sena and NCP splits.

Mumbai Police Arrests 12 Individuals

On Monday, the Mumbai Police apprehended 12 people for vandalizing the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, where stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra performed his latest show for YouTube’s ‘Naya Bharat’.

Kamra’s Statement: No Apology

On Monday, Kamra issued a statement on his official social media account, stating that he would not apologize for his actions. He explained that an entertainment venue is merely a platform and not accountable for his comedy. He added that attacking a venue for a comedian’s words is as nonsensical as overturning a lorry carrying tomatoes because you didn’t like the butter chicken you were served.

Kamra further stated that the right to freedom of speech and expression is not only to be used to praise the powerful and wealthy. He emphasized that making fun of leaders and the political system is not illegal.
