Lucknow and Kanpur, in Uttar Pradesh, received light rain on Thursday morning, offering respite from the scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts partly cloudy skies with intermittent rain or thundershowers in Lucknow between April 10-11.
- Temperatures are predicted to rise up to 38 degrees Celsius.
- The minimum temperature will hover around 24 degrees Celsius.
UP Chief Minister’s Instructions
Due to weather concerns, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered district officials to swiftly implement relief measures for rain, hailstorm, storm, and lightning incidents. Officials must visit affected areas, oversee relief operations, and ensure timely assistance to those in need.
Assessment of Crop Damage
The Chief Minister has also instructed officials to evaluate crop damage and submit a comprehensive report to the government for further action.
Weather Update in Punjab and Haryana
IMD scientist Surender Paul reported recent heatwave conditions in some areas of Punjab and Haryana. He anticipates rainfall across western Punjab and northern and northeastern Haryana regions in the coming days.
Lightning Strikes in Bihar
Lightning strikes resulted in 13 fatalities across four Bihar districts, including Begusarai, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Samastipur. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed sorrow over the incidents and announced compensation of four lakh rupees for each affected family.
