Lucknow Super Giants’ Journey to IPL 2025 Playoffs
The double-header matches on Sunday, May 18, were very important. Rajasthan Royals played against Punjab Kings. Delhi Capitals faced Gujarat Titans. These games helped decide who would make it to the playoffs. Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans won their matches. They secured their spots in the top four. Royal Challengers Bengaluru also moved forward.
What Are Lucknow Super Giants’ Chances?
With only one spot left in the top four and three teams still in the race, let’s see what Lucknow Super Giants need to do to make it to the playoffs.
LSG on IPL 2025 Points Table
Lucknow Super Giants are currently seventh in the points table. They have 10 points from 11 matches. They’ve won five games. Their net run rate (NRR) is -0.469.
How Can LSG Qualify?
Three teams are still in the running for the playoffs:
- Mumbai Indians: 14 points, 2 matches left
- Delhi Capitals: 13 points, 2 matches left
- Lucknow Super Giants: 10 points, 3 matches left
For LSG to make it to the top four, they must win all three of their remaining matches. This will give them 16 points. But they also need to improve their NRR. So, they must win their upcoming games by big margins.
LSG’s fate also depends on other teams’ results:
- Mumbai Indians must lose both of their remaining games. Even one win for MI could push them ahead of LSG based on NRR.
- Delhi Capitals need to beat MI.
- Punjab Kings must beat both DC and MI to help LSG’s chances.
If LSG loses even one of their upcoming matches, they will be out of the playoffs race.
