Maharashtra CM Fadnavis Backs New Education Policy as ‘Indianisation’
Fadnavis Urges Sonia Gandhi to Support ‘Indianisation’ of Education
NEW DELHI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis voiced his support for the New Education Policy (NEP) on Monday, referring to it as the ‘Indianisation’ of India’s education system. Speaking to reporters in Nagpur, Fadnavis stated, “I believe this (NEP) is the Indianisation of India’s education system.”
Fadnavis Addresses Sonia Gandhi’s Criticism
- Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, criticized the Centre’s implementation of the NEP.
- Gandhi accused the government of promoting “three core agendas – centralisation, commercialisation, and communalisation.”
In response, Fadnavis encouraged Sonia Gandhi to learn more about the policy and support the ‘Indianisation’ of the education system. He said, “If the Education Policy introduced by Macaulay to enslave our country is replaced and Indianisation is done, I think no one should have any objections. Any patriot will support it. I believe Sonia Gandhi ji should learn more about it and fully support the Indianisation of the Indian education system.”
Rajnath Singh’s Plea for Unity Among Languages
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called for an end to dividing the country based on language.
- Singh reaffirmed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to protecting Hindi and all other Indian languages.
- He emphasized the cooperation among Hindi and other Indian languages, stating, “Hindi strengthens all Indian languages, and all Indian languages strengthen Hindi.”
Singh made these comments at a function honoring Tamil warrior queen Rani Velu Nachiyar. These statements come amidst tensions between the Tamil Nadu government and the Central government regarding the three-language formula proposed in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the delimitation exercise.
