Legislators Work Hard to Finish Constituency Development Projects

MLAs working on projects

Elections are coming soon. MLAs are working hard to finish projects in their areas. They use funds from special schemes to do this.

Funding and Projects

Each MLA gets 3 crore rupees every year. This money is for important projects like:

  • Building smart classrooms
  • Creating multipurpose halls
  • Setting up PDS outlets

Focus on Road Repairs

MLAs from all parties are asking officials to fix roads quickly. They also listen to people’s requests for road work and stormwater drains.

For example, DMK MLA I Paranthamen from Egmore is watching over the construction of a health centre and multipurpose halls. “I told officials to finish all ongoing work by the end of this year,” he said. He is also working on moving 750 families in Thideer Nagar to better homes.

Improving Security

In Perundurai, AIADMK MLA S Jayakumar is working to install CCTV cameras. He wants them in three places within the Uthukuli area of Tirupur. “People need better security because crime has increased in the region,” he said.

Problems with Funding

Many MLAs are unhappy. The government has not helped with the 18% GST charges on their development fund. This means they have less money to work with, only 54 lakh rupees.

AIADMK MLA K R Jayaram from Singanallur shared his concern. “Only two of the eight projects we chose have been finished here,” he said.

Good News

CPM MLA Nagai Maali from Kilvelur is happy. A ceremony was held for the construction of smart classrooms, a bus shelter, and a PDS outlet. “I have asked officials to speed up the projects so we can open them this year,” the MLA said.
