Gujarat ATS Acts on Punjab Police Tip-Off
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested two laborers, Bikramjeet Singh Nirvir Singh alias Bikka and Bikramjeet Singh Amarjeet Singh, working on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. They were wanted in connection with a murder case in Punjab.
- The duo was apprehended at a labor colony near the project site in Nadiad.
- Punjab police shared a tip-off about their involvement in a murder case registered on March 9 at Mehta police station, Amritsar district.
Interrogation Leads to Arrest
During the interrogation of earlier arrested accused, Sharanjeet Singh and Vishwambhar, Punjab police learned of Bikka and Bikramjeet’s involvement in a murder attempt at Timmowal and a murder conspiracy at Chunggam, both under Mehta police station limits in Amritsar.
- Gujarat ATS officials developed the input further and traced the accused to the Nadiad-based worker colony.
- Upon questioning, both individuals revealed their real identities.
Confession and Legal Procedure
“The accused were taken to the ATS office in Chharodi of Ahmedabad for preliminary interrogation, during which they confessed to their role in the violent crimes alongside the previously arrested co-accused,” said an ATS official. Procedures are underway to hand over the accused to Punjab police for further legal action.
