Understanding the Scam

  • He swiped his card and entered the correct PIN, but the transaction was denied.
  • After two failed attempts, the payment was accepted on the third try.
  • Several weeks later, he discovered unauthorized charges of over one lakh rupees on his card.
  • Further investigation revealed that his card had been skimmed or duplicated at the fuel station, enabling the scammers to steal money from his account.

Safeguard Yourself from Scams

Sarthak Ahuja, the individual who shared the video on Instagram, provided some tips to protect yourself from such scams:

  • Opt for touchless payment methods like UPI or tap.
  • Wait for a declined transaction notification on your phone before swiping your card again.
  • Disable international payments on your card while in India, as most of these fraudulent transactions occur in international locations.

The disturbing video has gained viral status on social media, with over 2.4M views and 63.1K likes. Many users have emphasized the importance of using UPI and staying vigilant against such scams.
