Ratu Road Flyover: Easing Ranchi’s Traffic Woes

Ranchi is set to experience a significant improvement in traffic flow. The new flyover on Ratu Road, constructed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), is scheduled to open on July 3.

What Makes the Flyover Special

• Impressive Length and Cost: This 4.18 km long flyover cost Rs 291 crore to build.
• Four Lanes: It features four lanes to handle more traffic efficiently.
• Grand Inauguration: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will officially open the flyover at OTC Ground.

Strategic Location and Benefits

The flyover begins at Naga Baba Khatal and ends at two crucial points:

• Itki Road, connecting to NH-23 and leading to Gumla and Daltonganj.
• Near the OTC Ground.

This flyover is part of NH-75. It will help reduce traffic congestion in central Ranchi. Additionally, it will enhance the flow of vehicles heading to other cities and highways.

Unique Features of the Flyover

The flyover includes several special features:

• Noise Barriers: These barriers will absorb up to 95% of traffic noise and cost Rs 8 crore.
• Bulletproof Canopy: A 170-meter stretch near Raj Bhawan will have a bulletproof canopy for VIP security.
• Modular Expansion Joints: These joints will reduce sound and vibration.
• Enhanced Streetlights: Double-area streetlights will provide better illumination.
• Strengthened Ramps: These ramps will ensure smoother transitions.

Final Touches

Anand Kumar, the site manager, shared, “We are putting the final touches on the flyover. This includes installing lighting, signage, and cleaning. The flyover is not just an engineering marvel; it is a traffic lifeline for Ranchi. It will significantly reduce the daily chaos commuters face.”

Inauguration Event Details

Preparations for the inauguration are underway at OTC Ground. Arrangements include setting up the stage, public seating, security, and media coordination. The event is expected to attract senior officials, political leaders, and a large public audience. Ranchi is excited to welcome this major infrastructure milestone.
