RCB vs RR IPL 2025: Hazlewood’s Heroics and Krunal’s Control

Rajasthan Royals’ Losing Streak Persists

Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Bengaluru, both teams trying to break their respective three-game losing streaks. In a closely fought match, RCB emerged victorious with an 11-run win, finishing at 205/5.

Josh Hazlewood’s Spectacular 19th Over

RR appeared to have the upper hand after scoring 22 runs in the 18th over, bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. With 18 runs needed from 12 balls and five wickets remaining, the chase seemed feasible. However, RR’s recent performances suggested otherwise:

  • Failed to chase 20 runs from 12 balls with six wickets remaining against Lucknow Super Giants.
  • Failed to chase 23 runs from 12 balls with seven wickets remaining against Delhi Capitals.

Josh Hazlewood rose to the occasion and delivered an outstanding 19th over, allowing just one run and claiming two wickets. His second-best IPL figures of 4/33 propelled him to the top of the purple cap race, alongside Prasidh Krishna.

Krunal Pandya Slows Down RR

RR started strong in their pursuit of 206, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive 49 off 19. But Krunal Pandya had different plans. After Riyan Parag’s dismissal, RR went from 110/2 to 140/4 in five overs. Krunal and Suyash Sharma conceded only 62 runs in their eight overs, taking two wickets.

RCB’s Batting Excellence

RCB showcased their best batting performance of the season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt successfully navigated the powerplay, marking the first time in four home games that RCB remained unscathed during the powerplay.

Kohli scored his first half-century (70 off 42) of the season, moving to second place in the orange cap race with 392 runs from nine innings. Devdutt Padikkal also scored a remarkable half-century against his former team, RR.

Jitesh Sharma and Tim David’s late hitting helped RCB surpass the 200-run mark. Jofra Archer and Wanindu Hasaranga were economical for RR, taking one wicket each.
