Allies Push for More Seats in Bihar Polls
Patna: The RJD, under Lalu Prasad’s leadership, is feeling the heat. Allies want more seats. The party is ready to give up to 103 seats to its three main allies. These are the Congress, Left parties, and the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
How RJD Plans to Share Seats
RJD has a clear plan. They want to contest at least 140 seats in the upcoming polls. Their goal is simple: form the next government. Here’s the breakdown of the remaining seats:
- Congress: Around 50-55 seats
- Left parties (CPI-ML, CPI, and CPI-M): About 30-35 seats
- VIP: Between 12-20 seats
Bihar’s assembly has 243 seats in total. RJD will look at who can win before giving seats to allies. They aim to win over 100 seats themselves.
What the Allies Want
Allies are not backing down. They want more seats. VIP and CPI-ML have made their demands clear:
- VIP wants 60 seats.
- CPI-ML is asking for 40-50 seats.
In the last election in 2020, CPI-ML won 12 out of 19 seats. VIP, part of the NDA then, won 4 out of 11 seats. Recently, VIP’s leader repeated their demand for 60 seats at a meeting.
Similarly, CPI-ML’s leader, Dipankar Bhattacharya, wants 40-50 seats. He says this will be discussed in the INDIA bloc meeting.
Congress’s Game Plan
Congress is not sitting idle. They are working hard in the state. Their goal is to win as many seats as possible.
RJD’s Stand
RJD knows allies want more. They believe seat-sharing will be smooth.
RJD’s state spokesperson, Shakti Singh Yadav, said, “They have every right to ask for more seats. Seat-sharing is not an issue for us. It will be done smoothly.”
