THANE: Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske from Thane has made serious claims. He says Eknath Shinde was left out of important meetings. These meetings were about planning for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Shinde was the urban development minister during the Maha Vikas Aghadi government’s time.
Response to Corruption Charges
Mhaske was responding to allegations from the Shiv Sena UBT faction. They accused Shinde of corruption. They also blamed him for not acting during his time as chief minister. He was also in charge of urban development during Uddhav Thackeray’s government.
“I saw that Shinde was kept away from all BMC meetings. I talked to MP Sanjay Raut about this. He told me that the Thackeray family and their close friends controlled all BMC matters. Raut told me to tell Shinde not to interfere in BMC affairs,” Mhaske told reporters in Thane.
Counterattack on Thackerays
Mhaske defended Shinde and attacked the Thackerays. He called them ‘the real corrupt politicians’. He accused them of being involved in various scams during the pandemic. This includes the purchase of bags for corpses during Covid.
“The Thane corporation bought bags at ₹350 each. But the BMC bought the same bags at ₹7,000 each. They bought them from the same company,” he said. He warned those accused of corruption to stop targeting Shinde.
Allegations and Comparisons
Mhaske also claimed that Uddhav Thackeray was kept waiting outside the Gandhi residences in Delhi during the MVA regime. In contrast, the NDA recently gave Eknath Shinde the responsibility of honoring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the army for Operation Sindoor’s success.
“Our NDA government appointed MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde to lead a delegation to the UAE and other countries. This was to represent and clarify our government’s stance on fighting terrorism along our borders. This shows respect for Maharashtra,” he said. He dismissed criticism by Raut towards the Centre for being sidelined.
