Sixth Time’s the Charm: Nitish Rana’s Viral Catch
An Unforgettable Moment
The saying “third time’s the charm” is well-known, but Rajasthan Royals fielder Nitish Rana took it to a new level by showing that one can also be “sixth time lucky.” His catch to dismiss Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Devdutt Padikkal has become a viral sensation.
Rana needed six attempts to finally complete the catch, creating an unforgettable moment in the match.
Devdutt Padikkal’s Impressive Performance
Local favorite Devdutt Padikkal scored an outstanding half-century against his former team, Rajasthan Royals. His 27-ball 50 included 4 fours and 3 sixes. This was Padikkal’s second consecutive half-century this season.
It’s worth mentioning that Padikkal only managed 38 runs in 7 innings for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024. Padikkal contributed to a 95-run partnership for the second wicket with Virat Kohli.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 205/5
RCB delivered their best batting performance of the season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt successfully navigated the powerplay without losing a wicket, marking the first time in four home games that RCB achieved this feat.
Kohli scored his first fifty (70 off 42) of the season and moved to second place in the orange cap race with 392 runs from 9 innings.
Jitesh Sharma (23 off 15) and Tim David’s (19 off 10) late hitting helped RCB surpass 200. Jofra Archer (1/33) and Wanindu Hasaranga (1/30) were economical for Rajasthan Royals. Sandeep Sharma took two wickets while conceding 45 runs in his four overs.
