Ayodhya Tragedy: Mother and Son Killed in Land Dispute

A woman and her son were brutally attacked

A woman and her son lost their lives in a brutal attack. This happened due to a long-standing land dispute in Ayodhya.

A Horrific Night in Ayodhya

A 55-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son were beaten to death on Thursday night. This sad event took place in Ayodhya’s Khandaasa region.

What Happened That Night

The attack occurred in Mahua village around 10:30 PM. The young man was returning home from a condolence ceremony. The victims, Premnath and his mother Kunta Devi, were attacked by a group of men from their own village. The attackers used sticks and iron rods.

Two other family members were also badly hurt. These included an 18-year-old and a 28-year-old woman. People who saw the attack and the police say that the attackers showed no mercy. Kunta Devi begged for mercy and tried to protect her son with her body.

Kunta Devi was declared dead at a local health center. Premnath died from his injuries on the way to a hospital in Lucknow.

Why Did This Happen?

Officials say the violence was due to a land dispute. This dispute had been going on for nearly a year. Premnath had bought a plot of land in 2023 from Guddu Singh. However, his neighbor Sonu contested the sale. Sonu said that the land originally belonged to his maternal grandfather.

Sonu had filed a complaint with the authorities. This stopped the land transfer. The matter was being discussed in the local court.

Tensions between the two families had been high. About two weeks ago, they had a big argument. The police had to step in. They tried to keep both parties apart. However, a new argument started on Thursday evening during an event in a nearby village.

Although people at the event calmed the situation, the attackers later ambushed Premnath as he approached his house.

The Aftermath of the Attack

Hearing Premnath’s cries for help, his mother Kunta Devi ran out of the house. She tried to protect her son. The attackers continued to strike them both until they stopped moving.

Premnath’s younger brother Dinanath, 18, and his sister-in-law Anita, 28, also tried to help but were beaten by the attackers. All four victims were taken to the local health center. They were later moved to a district hospital.

Doctors said Kunta Devi was dead on arrival. Premnath had serious head and internal injuries. He was moved to a medical college and then to a hospital in Lucknow. He died while being transported.

Police Action and Current Situation

The police have registered a case against nine individuals based on a complaint filed by Anita. Among those named are Sonu and Hriday Ram. The police say that seven of the accused have been taken into custody. They are being questioned. The police are still looking for the remaining two.

Post-mortem examinations were conducted in Ayodhya and Lucknow. A large number of police have been sent to Mahua village. Premnath’s home is under security watch. Officials have promised strict action against the attackers.

The village is still tense, with most residents staying indoors. A sense of shock and fear is in the air. The police say they are taking no chances. They will take further measures to prevent any more violence.
