Heavy Rain and Lightning Cause Tragedy

Lightning strikes in Adilabad

Hyderabad: The sowing season had farmers busy in their fields. Then, tragedy struck. Lightning on Thursday took six lives in Adilabad. Ten others were hurt.

Pipri Village Struck by Tragedy

In Pipri village, Gadiguda mandal, a sad event happened. Fourteen farmers took shelter from the rain under a hut. Lightning hit the hut. Four people died instantly:

  • P Madhavrao, 45
  • Sanjana, 22
  • M Bhimbai, 40
  • S Rambai, 45

Ten injured farmers were first taken to a local hospital. They were then moved to RIMS, Adilabad. The village is now filled with sorrow.

More Lives Lost to Lightning

Two more deaths were reported in Bela mandal. Nandini, 30, was struck while working in Sangidi village. Sunitha, 35, died in a similar event in Sonkas village. Both were farmers.

Family Hurt in Kummari Thanda

In Kummari thanda, Utnoor mandal, lightning struck again. Three family members were injured. B Dhanraj, 27, Nirmala, 36, and T Krishnabai, 30, suffered burns. They were sheltering in a cattle shed during the rain.

Heavy Rain Causes Flooding

Adilabad town saw heavy rain. This led to flooding on many roads. Official data shows:

  • Narnoor mandal received 42.8 mm of rain from 6:30 am to 7 pm on Thursday.
  • Chaprala in Bela mandal recorded 32.5 mm.
  • Heerapur in Indervelly mandal saw 31.5 mm.

Stay Safe During Storms

District officials have given safety advice. They ask farmers and workers to avoid sheltering under trees or poles during storms. Stay safe and find secure shelter when storms approach.
