Good news! The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates. You now have until June 14, 2026, to update your details online without any cost.

UIDAI made this announcement on social media. They stated that this extension aims to benefit millions of Aadhaar holders. You can use this free service only on the myAadhaar portal. UIDAI encourages everyone to keep their Aadhaar details current.
Why Keep Your Aadhaar Updated?
Having up-to-date Aadhaar details ensures accurate records. You can easily update your Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents online.
Understanding the Costs
Previously, updating documents online cost Rs 50. However, UIDAI has waived this fee temporarily to encourage more updates. Note that updating at physical centers will still incur charges.
Who Needs to Update?
UIDAI recommends updating your Aadhaar if:
- You haven’t updated your Aadhaar in the last ten years.
- Your personal details have changed.
Updates Requiring a Physical Visit
Some updates still need you to visit an Aadhaar Enrollment/Update Centre. These include changes to your:
- Mobile number
- Biometric data
- Photo
These updates come with applicable charges.
Simple Steps to Update Online
Follow these easy steps to update your Aadhaar details online:
- Visit the myAadhaar portal.
- Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP.
- Review your profile details.
- Verify the displayed information.
- Select an identity document.
- Upload the identity document (ensure it’s under 2 MB and in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format).
- Choose an address document.
- Upload the address document (again, under 2 MB and in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format).
- Provide your consent.
- Download the acknowledgement after completion.
