India to Face Pakistan in Colombo

Get ready for an exciting match! India will play Pakistan on October 5 in Colombo during the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. India is hosting the tournament, but a few matches will also take place in Colombo. This follows a special agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Neutral Venues for India-Pakistan Matches

According to the agreement, India and Pakistan matches at ICC events will be played at neutral venues from 2024 to 2027. This means Pakistan will play all their games in Colombo.

Tournament Kickoff

The tournament starts with a thrilling match. India will take on Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on September 30. This marks the return of the Women’s ODI World Cup to the country after 12 years.

Venues for the Tournament

The competition runs from September 30 to November 2. It will be played across four venues in India:

  • M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru)
  • ACA Stadium (Guwahati)
  • Holkar Stadium (Indore)
  • ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam)

Additionally, one venue in Sri Lanka will host matches:

  • R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo)

Semifinals and Final Details

Colombo could host the first semifinal and the final. This will happen if Pakistan qualifies for the knockout games. If Pakistan does not qualify for the last four stage, the first semifinal and the final will be hosted in Guwahati and Bengaluru respectively. The semifinals will take place on October 29 and 30, with the final on November 2.

Qualified Teams

Hosts India, along with Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, have already qualified through rankings. Bangladesh and Pakistan joined the heavyweights through Qualifiers.

Defending Champions

Australia enters the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 as defending champions. They defeated England in the final in 2022. Australia is also the most successful side in the competition with seven titles.
